The 18 mile road that winds along the coastal dune lakes and the Gulf of Mexico is known as Scenic route 30-A. 30A has bike paths that run along the entire scenic road that has gulf views, coastal dune lake views and cross many scenic bridges. 30A has many small towns/communities starting with Dune Allen Beach in the west. Dune Allen has two beach accesses and Oyster Dune Lake on the north side of the road. Traveling east you will next arrive in Blue Mountain Beach. Here you will find many luxury 3 and 4 story condos and nice restaurants and even an Irish Pub. On your way to Grayton Beach you will cross a few more Coastal Dune Lakes and still see plenty of people enjoying the bike paths but don’t forget to stop by the Red Bar while there, it is a local favorite. If you have ever seen the movie The Truman Show then you have seen Seaside. This “perfect” little community is set with quaint custom built Florida beach cottage homes with outside concerts and movies at Seaside’s Amphitheater. They provide family fun to be enjoyed year round. If you are there around dusk then go to Bud and Alley’s to capture the best sunset on 30A.While driving and enjoying the sites be sure to be aware of pedestrians on the bike paths. Finally to the furthermost eastern point Inlet Beach where the bike paths will end here as well as 30A intersects back to US Hwy 98. 30A beach life living is fun, upscale and relaxed. Either to visit or own a home or real estate in this gem is a privilege. Living here I am grateful for every day. 30A has many unique restaurants and shops that have many different personalities, from outside dining for breakfast lunch or dinner or to fine dining at one of the many beachfront restaurants. 30A is a place that is close to many peoples’ hearts not only the locals but also those vacationing and living here seasonal. The natural beauty of 30A and the beach of South Walton is unparalleled to any in the world. The homes and properties along 30A are diverse, unique and beautiful. South Walton and 30A offer many activities like kayaking or stand up paddle boarding in either the Gulf of Mexico or in one of the beautiful coastal dune lakes. Fishing either off the white sand beaches or grabbing a charter boat in Grayton Beach that leaves right from the beach and goes offshore fishing is also available. Biking, running, skateboarding and roller blading can be enjoyed along 30A’s bike path. 30A is such a unique area and so diverse in its communities, architecture, real estate, restaurants and people that I will break down each of the communities in more depth on other pages. My family loves to bring either a YOLO Board or kayak to one of the Dune Lakes to explore and enjoy what nature has to provide. You just can’t beat the experience of paddle through a natural preserve in a Coastal Dune Lake then going straight into the Gulf of Mexico from there. The 30A bike paths and dune lakes are magical and must be seen in person to be appreciated.
